Introduction

Sub- Jail, Salipur was established in the Year 2009 and it is situated on the bank of holy river “Chitrotpala” and near “Sisua Barage”. The environment of this Jail is quite natural and out of crowd. Salipur Town, Court, Hospital, Police Station etc. are situated within a distance of 03(three) kilometres from this Jail.

History of Jail

This Jail was established in the year 2009. Under trial Prisoners received to this Jail being remanded from the nearest Hon'ble Court of J.M.F.C., Salipur, A.D.J., Salipur, A.S.J., Salipur, Civil Judge Court, Salipur and PA Spl. Court under SC & ST Act, Cuttack respectively.

Facilities

  • Regular telephhone facility given for their family members & Advocate.
  • Regular facility for the“Interview” with their family members & Advocate is given from the Jail custody.
  • Color Television with DTH facility are available in the Wards for the entertainment of the inmates.
  • Recretional facilities like playing Volly Boll, Chess, Ludo & reading Daily News Paper are provided for the inmates of this Jail.
  • Some of the Convicts of this Jail were engaged in essential Works e.g. Kitchen, Barbering, Sweeping Gang etc. and are paid incentives for them.
  • Poor inmates requiring legal assistance are provided free Legal Aid service by the D.L.S.A., Cuttack.
  • Convicted prisoners of this Jail eligible under rule are allowed to avail Furlough Leave & Parol Leave as per the opinion of the District administration and Prisons Directorate, Odisha, Bhubaneswar.
