The Sub-Jail, Kamakshyanagar is situated at the southernmost part of Kamakhyanagar Jagannath Bazar Rode adjacent to N.H. 53. It is under the administrative control of D.G. of Prisons, Odisha Bhubaneswar. However D.I.G. Prisons Northern Range Sambalpur and Senior Superintendent Circle Jail, Cuttack at Choudwar are the Supervising Authorities and also the Appointment -cum- Disciplinary Authorities of Guarding Staff.

:- The Sub-Jail, Kamakshyanagar was established in the year 1928.. It was also coming under the jurisdiction of Circle Jail, Sambalpur. The total area of the Jail is 4.330dec. It was coming under the Dhenkanal District under the Judgeship of Hon’ble Court of Dist. & Sessions Judge, Dhenkanal. After bifurcation now it is under the Judgeship of Hon’ble Court of Addl.Dist. & Sessions Judge, Kamakhyanagar.
