Chatrapur is a small beautiful town in Ganjam Dist, Odisha. This is the Head quarter of Ganjam Dist. Chatrapur city is connected to National Highway, NH-16. Sub Jail, Chatrapur is an old Prison established during the year 1986. Previously this jail was designated as Taluk Sub Jail, Chatrapur and managed by the Revenue Dept. in an old revenue building which was located at center of the Chatrapur town. On 14.09.1986 the Taluk Jail was handed over to the Jail Dept and shifted to Tareipatapur, Chatrapur which is located outside of town. The Distance from Jail to Bus Stand is about 01 k.m and 02 kms to Railway station. Jail is located near the Beautiful “Tampara Lake.” The infrastructure of the Jail buildings meant for inmate’s accommodation which is pretty old type. Total area of the Jail land is 5.64 acres and the sanctioned strength is 164 including 08 females. But at present the prison population of this jail is near about 140.
